Congresswoman Maxine Waters claims anybody who supports the construction of a wall at the southern border is not a patriot and, in fact, does not love America.
Waters was speaking at a rally to protest the President's declaration of a national emergency to build the border wall. The rally was held outside Los Angeles City Hall.
“This president is trying to keep a campaign promise to all of those people that he swore he would build a wall!” she said, as if keeping campaign promises is a terrible thing.
“Those people who want the wall are not patriots,” Waters asserted. “They are not people who love this country, they are not people who stand up for what's right!”
And third, the chutzpah to declare people who want law and order returned to our nation, who want to stop criminals and terror threats from crossing our borders, who want people to legally immigrate, as unable to ‘stand up for what's right' is astounding.
Making it easier for people to break the law is not ‘standing up for what is right.'
If anything, it amounts to being an accessory to the crime.
Democrat Version of Patriotism
It's amusing listening to a Democrat lawmaker lecture conservatives on what true patriotism is all about.
Aside from some who believe impeaching President Trump is their patriotic duty, a good portion of the resistance party actually does view illegal immigration as an American virtue.
Maxine's comments echo those made by others in her party – from establishment Democrats like Nancy Pelosi to far-left radicals like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Ocasio-Cortez believes illegals are more American than the President and his supporters.
She encouraged lawmakers to “pass the Dream Act” a means of protecting “the patriotic young undocumented immigrants who came here as children.”
Trump Supporter in the Crowd
Things got heated at Maxine's rally when a Trump supporter entered the crowd wearing a MAGA hat and carrying a flag.
Her ‘patriotic' followers tried shouting him down, cursing him out, stealing his hat, and even attempted to rip the flag from him.
These are ‘patriots' in her warped mind.
Remember that – people who show up here and ignore our laws are more American than you are. People who desecrate the flag are more American than you.
At least that's what Maxine and the Democrats think.

First of all, people who want the wall are the true patriots in this equation. Second, these true patriots do indeed love the country, hence their concern with what is clearly a national emergency and the urgency in protecting the American people.
And third, the chutzpah to declare people who want law and order returned to our nation, who want to stop criminals and terror threats from crossing our borders, who want people to legally immigrate, as unable to ‘stand up for what's right' is astounding.
