In opening statements at today's Senate Judiciary Committee, Brett Kavanaugh delivered a passionate speech defending his name, his character, his honor, and his family – and one Congressman implied it was proof that he is an angry rapist.
Kavanaugh refused to bow or waver to the circus that Democrats have put forth in trying to smear and tarnish his reputation, at times angrily refuting every effort to impeach his reputation.
“I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process,” Kavanaugh fought back. “You've tried hard. You've given it your all.”
“Your coordinated and well-funded effort to destroy my good name and destroy my family will not drive me out,” he seethed. “You may defeat me in the final vote but you'll never get me to quit. Never.”
It was a speech that could easily have been confused as being written by President Trump himself, engaging in fire and fury to get at the justice he has been denied by disgraceful Democrats.
In another remarkable moment, Kavanaugh emotionally explained that he holds no ill will towards his accuser, and described how his 10-year-old daughter told him, “We should pray for the woman.”

Anybody watching Kavanaugh's opening statements must feel empathy for the man. We've all been accused of something we didn't do, of saying something we didn't say.
It's frustrating. It's infuriating.
It's understandable.
Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) interpreted things slightly differently. Reading between the lines, Lieu asserts that Kavanaugh's passion means he is very likely a sloppy, angry drunk, who could conceivably engage in sexual assault.
If Brett Kavanaugh can be this angry on national TV, imagine what he's like when he gets inebriated.#KavanaughHearings https://t.co/jqszfqb8Fq

Now, Lieu has never been mistaken for a viable Mensa candidate, but this isn't just passive stupidity – it is a vile and borderline evil statement.
Lieu has been willing to make other breathless leaps in logic regarding Kavanaugh throughout this process. The congressman took an easily refuted allegation by an accuser dredged up by Michael Avenatti and immediately called for Kavanaugh to be impeached.
“Based on the numerous allegations of sexual assault against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, including these new criminal allegations by Julie Swetnick, the House Judiciary Committee must immediately start an investigation into Judge Kavanaugh to see if he should be impeached,” he fantasized.
If anybody is being impeached let's start with Lieu.
