Well it's about time.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions just made the decision: Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is officially fired from the agency. This significantly reduces his pension, which is paid directly by taxpayers.

Earlier this week, we reported on the decision before the Attorney General. The FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility had actually recommended that McCabe be official relieved of his duty after it was determined that he was not forthcoming about whether or not he conversed with reporters regarding the Bureau's Clinton Foundation investigation. The Department of Justice Inspector General determined as much in its own review.
McCabe stepped down from his post in January after these revelations.

Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch provides a great explanation of why McCabe had to go:
.@JudicialWatch caught FBI #2 Andrew McCabe red-handed in conflict of interest scandal involving Clinton crony $ for his wife's campaign. Now Sessions must decide whether to fire him for allegedly lying about leaks. @RealDonaldTrump should demand action. https://t.co/gab9g3NKmg pic.twitter.com/bw71BOLv12

Some suspect that Sessions fired McCabe to curry favor with Trump, who has been on the warpath this week, firing top officials in his administration whom he doesn't gel easily with, including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. It's been rumored for months that Trump may soon let Sessions go, replacing him with an attorney general better fit to work with the President.
Will Sessions's decision placate Trump, who has hinted in the past that he wants McCabe officially relived of his duties?
As with anything in the Trump White House, that's up to the big man himself.
