A man has just been arrested after burning the American flag right outside the White House.
This comes just hours after President Trump signed an executive order making it illegal to burn the American flag.
In defiance of this order, a deranged man, who claims to be a veteran, set fire to the American flag near the White House in protest.
He was immediately arrested.

NBC News reported:
Secret Service confirmed to Newsweek:Federal authorities Monday arrested a man across the street from the White House after he set an American flag on fire the day President Donald Trump signed an executive order intended to crack down on flag burning.
The man, who identified himself as a 20-year combat veteran in a video posted to social media by the news outlet The Bulwark, said, “I’m burning this flag as a protest to that illegal fascist president that sits in that House,” as he pointed toward the White House from Lafayette Square.
The Secret Service said in a statement that it detained the man around 6:15 p.m. ET “for igniting an object” and that he was turned over to U.S. Park Police.
Park Police said they arrested the man for violating a statute that prohibits lighting a fire in a public park.
The arrest came hours after Trump signed an executive order to crack down on “desecration” of the American flag in connection with inciting violence or violating other laws.
The order directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to “vigorously prosecute” people who burn the American flag while engaged in other offenses, and it says she “may pursue litigation to clarify the scope of the First Amendment exceptions in this area.”
Under President Trump’s new executive order, this man could face 1-year in jail. The U.S. Secret Service confirmed the initial detention in a statement to Newsweek.
“On Aug.25 at approximately 6:15 p.m., the U.S. Secret Service detained an individual in Lafayette Park for igniting an object,” the agency said. “The individual was subsequently turned over to U.S. Park Police as they have jurisdiction. We’d refer you to U.S. Park Police for any charges or additional questions.”
The Park Police confirmed that the individual was arrested after being reached for comment by Newsweek, saying, “At about 6:30 pm, the United States Park Police arrested one person in Lafayette Park for a violation of 36 CFR 2.13(a)(1), prohibited fire. All units have cleared the scene.”
This is proving to be very controversial, with some folks claiming flag burning — no matter how distasteful and treacherous — is protected by the First Amendment while others are happy to see flag-burners go to jail.
While protecting the First Amendment is valid concern, I truly don’t think our Founders would consider flag-burning a form of “free speech” or “peaceful assembly.”
Our flag represents the heart of our nation. Anyone who would burn it is displaying blatant hatred of America and everything our country stands for.
For that reason, it makes sense to make it a crime, punishable by jail time.
President Trump’s executive order made clear note of this:Burning a flag is an act of violence. It is no more speech than burning down a building or murdering someone. If you say you want to do it, it’s speech but the act is not. Common sense. Finally!
We need to protect that beautiful flag for which we bled. pic.twitter.com/zx4J8mgvJX

What are your thoughts? Our great American Flag is the most sacred and cherished symbol of the United States of America, and of American freedom, identity, and strength. Over nearly two-and-a-half centuries, many thousands of American patriots have fought, bled, and died to keep the Stars and Stripes waving proudly. The American Flag is a special symbol in our national life that should unite and represent all Americans of every background and walk of life. Desecrating it is uniquely offensive and provocative. It is a statement of contempt, hostility, and violence against our Nation — the clearest possible expression of opposition to the political union that preserves our rights, liberty, and security. Burning this representation of America may incite violence and riot. American Flag burning is also used by groups of foreign nationals as a calculated act to intimidate and threaten violence against Americans because of their nationality and place of birth.
Notwithstanding the Supreme Court’s rulings on First Amendment protections, the Court has never held that American Flag desecration conducted in a manner that is likely to incite imminent lawless action or that is an action amounting to “fighting words” is constitutionally protected. See Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397, 408-10 (1989).
My Administration will act to restore respect and sanctity to the American Flag and prosecute those who incite violence or otherwise violate our laws while desecrating this symbol of our country, to the fullest extent permissible under any available authority.
Do you support prosecuting people for burning the American flag?
