Imagine being a police officer and walking into this.

New body camera footage shows the moment the University of Iowa police walked into a hazing incident.

In the footage, officers respond to a fire alarm at the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity house.

However, to their surprise, when they walked into the house, they discovered over 50 people blindfolded in a dirty basement.

Here’s the footage:

The footage from the Iowa Alpha Delta Phi hazing discovery is WILD.

A fire alarm went off, police arrived and discovered pledges in the dirty basement blindfolded and shirtless.

Newsweek provided further context on the hazing incident:

Disturbing footage has emerged of a hazing incident at the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity at the University of Iowa.

The footage is of an incident that occurred in November of 2024, when authorities discovered 56 people blindfolded in the basement of a fraternity house.

Early in the morning of November 15, 2024 Iowa City and University of Iowa police responded to a fire alarm at the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity house.

Authorities then found the pledges, blindfolded in the fraternity’s basement with food thrown on them, according to a report from the Iowa Press-Citizen, who citied a criminal complaint they had obtained.

Hazing is defined as “any activity expected of someone joining or participating in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them regardless of a person’s willingness to participate,” as per a report from The University of Maine.

Hazing is strictly forbidden at the University of Iowa and is a misdemeanor under Iowa law.

The police finally get ahold of the fraternity president.

God I bet he was shook. He knew the chapter was s**t out of luck at this point. He pretty much confessed to there being hazing pic.twitter.com/uhG8N3KFNu

Earlier in the year, three fraternity members in Arizona were arrested after a person who attended a rush event held by the fraternity members died, per KPTV:

An 18-year-old Northern Arizona University student is dead after police said he attended a rush event at a fraternity house Friday night.

Police said they responded to the fraternity house just before 9 a.m. Saturday for reports of an unresponsive person.

Bystanders started CPR before police arrived. When first responders got there, they said the 18-year-old was not breathing. Despite life-saving efforts, the student was pronounced dead at the scene.

After searching the home and speaking to witnesses, police said they learned the student had attended a rush event for the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.

Officers said multiple people at the home were drinking alcohol, including the victim and other prospective members.

Officials with Northern Arizona University said the rush event happened at the fraternity’s off-campus housing.

Following the 18-year-old’s death, three NAU students and Delta Tau Delta fraternity members were arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility.
