Cracker Barrel has just released an official statement in response to the huge backlash they’ve been getting over their new “modern” logo and remodeling.

In an apparent attempt at damage control, Cracker Barrel admitted that they “could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be.”

However, they’re basically going to ignore all advice from customers and continue with their sterile, corporate rebrand.

Read the full statement for yourself here:

BREAKING: Cracker Barrel issues official statement after major backlash over its rebrand:

“You’ve shown us that we could’ve done a better job.”

“If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We’re truly grateful for your heartfelt voices.”

“What has not changed, and what will never change, are the values this company was built on when Cracker Barrel first opened in 1969: hard work, family, and scratch-cooked food made with care.”

“A place where everyone feels at home, no matter where you’re from or where you’re headed. That’s the Cracker Barrel you’ll always find. The things people love most about our stores aren’t going anywhere: rocking chairs on the porch, a warm fire in the hearth, peg games on the table, unique treasures in our gift shop, and vintage Americana with antiques pulled straight from our warehouse in Lebanon, Tennessee.”

“We love seeing how much you care about our “old timer.” We love him too. Uncle Herschel will still be on our menu (welcome back Uncle Herschel’s Favorite Breakfast Platter), on our road signs and featured in our country store. He’s not going anywhere – he’s family.”

“While our logo and remodels may be making headlines, our bigger focus is still right where it belongs… in the kitchen and on your plate: serving generous portions of the food you crave at fair prices and doing it with the kind of country hospitality that brightens your days and creates lasting memories. Meatloaf, chicken n’ dumplins, country fried steak, sides that taste like Sunday supper, and yes, the world’s best pancakes, they’re all still here, with a few new dishes joining the menu. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a first-time guest, we want you to feel at home around our table.”

“We also want to be sure Cracker Barrel is here for the next generation of families, just as it has been for yours. That means showing up on new platforms and in new ways, but always with our heritage at the heart. We take that responsibility very seriously. We know we won’t always get everything right the first time, but we’ll keep testing, learning, and listening to our guests and employees.”

“At the end of the day, our promise is simple: you’ll always find comfort, community, and country hospitality here at Cracker Barrel.”

“Uncle Herschel wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.” “Thank you for caring so much and come see for yourself the country hospitality that makes Cracker Barrel feel like home.”

Love,

Cracker Barrel
TLDR: We hear you, but we really don’t care. We know better and aren’t changing anything back to how it was. Sorry, not sorry.

It almost would have been better if they had just stayed silent.

Folks on X are doing a brilliant job at translating the corporate jargon:

Cracker Barrel issues statement in the heat of backlash.

This is hard to read because of all the corporate double-speak. It says:

– We know you're mad.
– Logo stays.
– We will still have Uncle Herchel as a menu item, and on our road signs.

This is the most half-hearted, wishy… pic.twitter.com/8IJedI400M

This is the most half-hearted, wishy washy walkback, not-a-walkback I’ve ever seen.
Please allow me to sum up Cracker Barrel’s latest statement:

-They want you to know that they are very sorry…. (that they are losing so much money)
-They care very much about what you think …(but not enough to change the woke rebrand)
-And they will continue to listen …… pic.twitter.com/9HDKvQnjfe

-And they will continue to listen … (and then ignore you) They NEVER mention the people being most hurt by the boycott! Sadly, it is the loyal staff and servers and staff….. (Not the rich management.)

It’s a hard “NO” from me!!
This would have been a much better statement:

My team and I counsel companies and other organizations in crisis.

Cracker Barrel didn't ask for our help but — if they had — this is the statement I would have recommended they release to restore the serious damage they've done to their brand, reputation, and stock price. pic.twitter.com/VEAkwoRshU

Cracker Barrel’s sorry-not-sorry “apology” statement comes as the stock is in freefall.

The New York Post has more:

Wall Street’s concerns over the rebrand — which has been ripped by longtime critics as soulless and “woke” — have sent the stock plummeting 17% over the past month.

“While our logo and remodels may be making headlines, our bigger focus is still right where it belongs … in the kitchen and on your plate,” Cracker Barrel insisted in a Monday statement that was posted on Instagram and Facebook.

“We know we won’t always get everything right the first time, but we’ll keep testing, learning and listening to our guests and employees,” the Tennessee-based company added.

In response, fed-up customers gave Cracker Barrel an earful.

“You kicked Uncle Herschel to the curb. Now you are paying the price. Own it and stop making excuses,” an Instagram user commented.

“Eating Sunday Supper in a place that looks like a car dealership does not say vintage Americana.”

Another user chimed in: “The biggest insult to your customers is acting like you hear them but doing the complete opposite”

Said a third: “I seriously don’t know what the purpose of this post was because you make it very clear that you have heard each of us, and you don’t care. Great choice in leadership right there.”

Yet another suggested: “Maybe someone can open a new chain, call it Uncle Hershell’s (sic), and decorate it the way Cracker Barrel was, with a gift shop, and everybody will flock there and Cracker Barell (sic) will go under!”

The company attempted to assuage outraged customers, saying it will keep the rocking chairs on its porches, fireplaces, peg games at tables, knickknacks in gift shops and antiques around the restaurant.
What are your thoughts?

Will you ever return to Cracker Barrel after all this?
