CHAOS: Pentagon City Mall Shut Down After Multiple Fights Break Out

The Pentagon City mall in Arlington, VA has been shut down after complete chaos erupted within the large crowd.

Multiple brawls broke out, prompting police response. The police ended up evacuating and shutting down the mall.

A police officer and mall security guard both suffered minor injuries.

At this time, we don’t know the reason as to what the cause of these fights were.

Arlington police closed down the mall and ordered evacuations before starting to make mass arrests.

While we don’t know the exact cause of the fights, it seems like it might have been a group of teenagers that started it all at the mall food court.

Based on the security video and my experiences at Pentagon City Mall, it certainly appears that a group of teenagers took the Metro from inner-city D.C. and started a fight in the mall's food court. Where are their parents?

Three juveniles are in police custody.

The Washington Post reported:

The Pentagon City shopping mall was shut down Saturday night after fights broke out, the Arlington police said.

Three juveniles were detained, police said about 8:30 p.m. One of the detained juveniles reported minor injuries. One officer and one mall security guard also reported minor injuries.

Videos posted on social media appeared to show a swirl of movement in and around the mall’s food court, as officers struggled with members of an unruly crowd.

Police said they went to the mall, at 1100 S. Hayes St., after “multiple fights” were reported in the area.

The mall was closed “at the direction” of the county police, according to a social media post from the police department.

It was not clear what touched off the incidents.

A police officer and a mall security guard suffered injuries Saturday dealing with multiple fights and a large crowd that led Arlington County police to shut down the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Arlington County police said the officer and the security guard suffered minor injuries. Three juveniles were detained, police said, and one of the three had minor injuries.

Police were called to the 1100 block of South Hayes Street for a report of multiple fights just after 7 p.m. according to a post on X from Arlington Alerts that was shared by Arlington County Police.

By 7:30 p.m. they ordered the mall to shut down and forced people to leave. The mall normally closes at 9 p.m.

Sadly, violence is not too uncommon to witness at this particular mall.

There are reports that fighting had been breaking out all day, and that this incident was just the final straw before police closed it down for the night.

Nick Sortor pointed out that he’s seen several fights in just one month at this same mall:

I lived right near that mall for over a month and saw at least 3 fights at a much smaller scale, along with terroristic threatening.
