The complicated peace forged by President Trump between Israel and Hamas is being put to the test.
One of four bodies returned to Israel purported to have been that of a hostage taken during the Oct. 7th attacks has been ruled out.
That body, according to the IDF, does not belong to any of the hostages.
In fact, it is suspected to be that of a Palestinian, possibly a female.
That news has brought the viability of the fragile peace into question, with Israel lashing out at Hamas.
The Islamic terror group says it simply needs more time, that it will take more work, to recover all the bodies it is obligated to return under the treaty agreement.
Even before the mix-up was discovered, the former spokesman for Israel’s war against Hamas hinted at the likelihood that the group might screw up their part of the bargain.
Referencing another returned body in February subsequently discovered to be that of a female Palestinian and not a dead hostage, Eylon Levy prophetically predicted this exact scenario when the coffins were transferred Tuesday night:
Shockingly, that scenario seems to have been perfectly duplicated.Hamas sent back four coffins tonight.
They have arrived at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for identification.
If confirmed to be the bodies of murdered hostages (remember the “mix-up” with Shiri Bibas?), that means Hamas is still holding 20 bodies. pic.twitter.com/CpZgtpkqay

The IDF has confirmed the identities of 3 of the 4 bodies returned from Hamas:
Unfortunately, as Levy pointed out in his prophetic post…SSGT Tamir Nimrodi was kidnapped alive and was killed while in captivity at the age of 18. Uriel Baruch was killed during the Oct. 7 Massacre and his body was kidnapped into Gaza. Eitan Levi was killed during the Oct. 7 Massacre and his body was kidnapped into Gaza.

That means Hamas is still failing to live up to it’s commitment under the peace treaty by a total of more than 21 unreturned murdered hostages.
The IDF made the announcement along with a strongly worded reminder for Hamas of it’s obligations per the agreement, as is being reported by Fox News:
Immediately after the 4 coffins had been transferred to Israeli custody, the Rafah border crossing had been opened in keeping with the steps outlined in the treaty. The Israel Defense Forces declared that one of the four bodies turned over to Israel by Hamas on Tuesday does not match any of the deceased hostages.
“Following the completion of examinations at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the fourth body handed over to Israel by Hamas does not match any of the hostages. Hamas is required to make all necessary efforts to return the deceased hostages,” the IDF noted.
All living hostages were released as part of a deal that President Donald Trump helped to broker, but the U.S. commander in chief noted in a post on Truth Social that the bodies of the dead must also be returned.
“The Government and the entire establishment for the missing and the captives of the State of Israel are determined, committed, and working tirelessly to return all of our fallen hostages for proper burial in their country,” the Israeli prime minister’s office noted.
“The Hamas terrorist organization is required to uphold its commitments to the mediators and return them as part of the implementation of the agreement.
Mario Nawfal reported on that step in this post overnight — an enormous step considering how long that border has been closed:
Besides the war of words, that newly reopened border crossing has been closed back down as a result of the misidentified remains.

As soon as Israel discovered the remains were not what — or whom — Hamas represented them to be…
Israel slammed the gates shut on the border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, according to the New York Post:
And even before the alleged ‘mix-up’ was discovered by Israel…Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu demanded earlier Wednesday that Hamas fulfill the requirements laid out in the cease-fire deal about the return of the hostages’ bodies.
“We will not compromise on this and will not stop our efforts until we return the last deceased hostage, until the last one,” he said.
President Trump also said the return was key to his widely celebrated deal, making clear it was not done until all 298 were returned.
All 28 dead hostages were supposed to be returned to Israel in the historic Trump-brokered deal that saw all 20 living hostages returned Monday after more than two years in barbaric conditions.
The shocking development echoed the trauma caused earlier this year when Hamas released — with great fanfare — the body of mom Shiri Bibas, which also instead turned out to be a Palestinian woman.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Kassem insisted on Telegram Wednesday that the group was still working to return the bodies, as agreed upon in the cease-fire deal.
As well as accusing the terror group of not honoring its commitments in returning the remains, Israel ordered the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt to be closed for breaking the deal.
Hamas had previously said it needed additional time to locate and return all the hostages due to the widespread destruction in Gaza and because some captives were taken by other terrorist organizations.
President Trump had already dropped an ominous threat in Hamas’ direction, as more than 20 bodies were yet to be returned as promised:
Here’s the full text of the President’s post in case that’s hard to read:
Phase 2 has to do with the DISARMAMENT of Hamas.ALL TWENTY HOSTAGES ARE BACK AND FEELING AS GOOD AS CAN BE EXPECTED. A big burden has been lifted, but the job IS NOT DONE. THE DEAD HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED, AS PROMISED! Phase Two begins right NOW!!! President DJT
Something that even now the group is rumored to be resisting.
It appears that PHASE 2 may have been fast-tracked following Hamas’ failure to make good on returning all the hostages — dead, or alive.
Nearly a week ago a reporter asked President Trump what would happen if Hamas said it couldn’t deliver all the hostages and bodies which they had agreed to return.
In that instance, President Trump seemed to be aware that some of the remains would in fact be difficult to find.
Here’s a clip of his answer:
At the moment, Israel isn’t going so far as to claim the peace treaty is over.
But they are highlighting rather strongly Hamas’ failure to live up to it’s obligations.
With Hamas currently existing in a grey zone of sorts — somewhere between authorized police force, and the next step of being disarmed and disbanded…
It’s anyone’s guess as to whether the terror group will actually keep it’s commitments and keep the peace agreement intact.
In February, the body of Shiri Bibas was miraculously found and returned to Israel within 24 hours of the mix-up.
It remains to be seen if this situation will end as quickly with all the remaining bodies returned as promised.
